There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which casino gaming is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that features many conveniences accompanying the casino, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
